The new miniaturized infrared temperature sensor optris CT 3M for measurements on metals and composites beginning at 50°C – one of the smallest in the world

The company Optris GmbH expands its product line with a new product:

optris CT 3M is a miniaturized infrared temperature sensor measuring at 2,3 µm wavelength for all temperature measurements in industry in the range between 50 and 600°C, where you need to measure at a short wavelength. Short wavelengths around 2,3 µm are reducing errors in temperature reading at changing or unknown emissivity . With a starting temperature around 50°C the temperature sensor optris CT 3M fulfills the wish of many customers being capable to measure on metals or composites while processing at temperatures around room temperature. The short wavelength also allows measurements through glass or transparent plastic windows, which is quite common in modern laser welding or measurements of lightening systems.

A small sensor head with 14 mm diameter and 28 mm length allows the mounting even when there is narrow space.

Response times of 1 ms are managed by a fast quantum detector and fast signal processing. High EMC of optris CT 3M is achieved by a special shielded pre amplifier. Its high EMC improves temperature measurement at high electromagnetic fields e. g. near inductors.

It is unique that you can use the optris CT 3M without cooling at high ambient temperatures up to 85°C. Accessories for protecting the sensor in tough environment and air purging are available. With the monitor box you can easily read the temperature, program the sensor and read out the analog signals like 0/4-20mA, 0-5/10V, thermocouple type K or J. Optris provides for all sensors of the CT series integrated digital interfaces like Profibus DP, CAN open, USB, RS232, RS485 or Ethernet (optional).

The technology company Optris GmbH is specialized in the development, production and sales of noncontact infrared thermometers. The product range comprises online and handheld temperature sensors as well as online infrared cameras and calibration sources.
